All of our retail clients know that the three most important things about property are location, location, and location. You always want to be in the location that’s most aligned with your target market. That’s why RICS relocated to the historic and newly-renovated J.F. Wild Building in the heart of downtown Indianapolis, IN.
The relocation process was a year-plus in the making. We toured 16 or more locations seeing new, old, finished, unfinished, and rehabbed spaces. Honestly, the spaces all started running together and it was hard to differentiate between what we were experiencing.
Somewhere in the midst of our whirlwind tour of downtown Indianapolis we discovered the J.F. Wild building. It felt different. The lobby, the finishes, the boutique floor plates, the views, and the vibes felt unique and special.
I left the J.F. Wild Building tour believing and knowing this is where we had to be. On the good advice of our real estate and legal advisors, I kept this conclusion to myself until we were through lease negotiations. I could hardly contain my excitement create an amazing space in an incredible location for our people to work.
The reason for my enthusiasm to relocate is because I believe 100% that environment is a major determining factor in outcomes. A great environment will enhance our experience, our work, and our clients’ results working with us. I’m totally sure of it.
So … we’ve worked our first full week from our new space. It wasn’t without hiccups. We (note: I) forgot to order trash cans in enough time, our water isn’t drinkable yet, and some loose ends are still incomplete from the build-out phase. It was perfectly imperfect for week 1.
