Don’t sell gift cards; instead, use gift certificates!
Many retailers utilize gift cards as promotional tools for their businesses. But what they don’t realize is that they are creating a greater liability on themselves for the value of those gift cards.
On top of that, gift cards can be very hard to track as promotions unless you keep a record of each individual gift card number used for that promotion.
Fortunately, RICS has a solution for you: gift certificates!
Instead of creating a stored value card for your next event, create a coupon code with a promotional code attached to it. This will allow you to keep track of how many were made, how many were redeemed, what the cost is of the promotion, and the return on your investment. Oh yeah, and you’re not liable for the value of the card!
To make the gift certificate:
- Print out the UPC associated with that coupon code on the Manage Coupons page in your RICS back office
- Attach it to your store’s promotional collateral and voila!
