Survey Says Retailers Progressing on Omnichannel, but Not Fast Enough

According to a new report from eTail and WBR Digital, even though omnichannel is growing among retailers, nearly half of retailers believe they aren’t moving forward fast enough. Nearly 40% of respondents said that their biggest challenge involves integrating omnichannel with their outdated technology systems. (RetailDive)

Nasty Gal Files for Bankruptcy

In an effort to restructure the business, ecommerce favorite Nasty Gal filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Founder and author of #Girlboss Sophia Amoruso is also expected to resign as the company’s executive chairwoman. According to Chief Executive Sheree Waterson, the company hopes this move will help “immediate liquidity issues,” and help correct “structural issues.” In a statement released on Wednesday, she said, “We expect to maintain our high level of customer service and emerge stronger and even better able to deliver the product and experience that our customer expect and that we take pride in bringing to market.” (LA Times)

National Retail Federation Keeping an Eye out for Donald Trump’s Trade Policy

The National Retail Federation is keeping a close watch on how the new President-elect will handle cross-border trade, labor laws, and tax policy. With the election finally over, it’s unclear how this will impact consumer sentiment and spending. “The retail supply chain is a thoroughly global supply chain,” said David French, senior vice president of government relations at the NRF. “Anything that threatens two-wade trade can hurt retail and consumers.” (America-Retail)
