• Introducing Haley Bakker As RICS’ Communications Director

If you follow RICS, you know that we’ve spent the last several months redefining our company narrative to more closely align with the goals and the retail problems facing our clients. After many hours of brainstorming fueled by many gallons of coffee,  we emerged with a new company story that received great validation from the retailers we serve.

Our work to understand, identify and ultimately solve the problems facing our target market has been both rewarding and challenging. We’re confident the time spent locked in a room, wired on caffeine has us on the right path.

Weaving the narrative into everything we do

To continue building upon the momentum we’ve created with our new narrative, we made the decision to expand our team and hire someone who will oversee communication strategy at RICS and implement this work into the way we serve our clients.

We’re excited to announce the addition of Haley Bakker as Communications Director to the team at RICS Software.

Introducing Haley Bakker

Haley brings tremendous experience in PR and communication strategy development to her new role at RICS. Most recently she worked at Nike in Beaverton, OR. where she was responsible for developing and supporting their global communications strategy for the women’s cross-category business (run, train, lifestyle).


We look forward to her help as we continue to amplify the way we serve our clients. She will be an integral part of ensuring our story remains consistent from first touchpoint on the website (new website launch in Q1) to customer renewal.

Here’s a little bit more about her:

What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received from a previous manager or co-worker  and how have you used it throughout your career?

One of my first and favorite bosses told me that the moments in life that cause us the most discomfort are often the ones that foster the most growth. I’ve certainly found that to be true in my career and in life. It’s good to mix it up from time to time: new city, new job, new process, new passion. If you ever find yourself too comfortable you’re in danger of being complacent. Great things never come from comfort zones.

What was your decision-making process when selecting a new company to work for after being part of a brand as big as Nike?

I was looking for a company that values the importance of good communication, employs and supports good people and doesn’t stray too far from my background in the retail industry. I found all of those things in RICS and am excited to join the team.   

What are you most looking forward to in your new opportunity at RICS?

I’m excited to spread my wings into the software service space and help bring our client offerings at RICS to the next level!

When you are not in the office what are doing for fun in your free time?

When I’m not in the office you can find me checking out the latest boutique fitness class, spending time with my family and traveling.
